Peaks Tri Athletes Shine

Bill Sheahan- Lake Placid Ironman- Finished 13min faster than Goal time!
Bill had a great day in Lake Placid on July 24th 2011.   This was his first Ironman and he was a little nervous.   He explained that “I kept waiting for the sky to fall on me, that I would hit the wall… but it never happened!”    Coach Karen worked with him to develop a detailed race strategy including nutrition, and power based pacing for the various sections of the course.   Using his power data and GPS data; he stuck with wattage plan and was able to keep a steady pace the entire run (but managed to pick up the pace for a strong finish in the last 2 miles!   He exclaimed, “I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day!”

Tom Hackleman-2nd place Keller Rohrback RR, Master 50+, Eatonville, WA
The plan was to watch the action during the first two lap and decide when to go for it.  As expected none of the breakaways stuck, one main competitor snuck off the front with 1.5K to go, Tom tried to bridge the gap, others followed and Tom was able to out sprint everyone else for second place.

Myra Parker- 5th place Race the River Sprint Triathlon - Athena Division, Coeur d'Alene, ID
Had a much better warm up this week, remembering and using the wet suit made a huge difference for the swim.  The transitions are getting faster, pushed the pace on the bike while racing a couple of friends and found her legs after about 1 mile finishing very strong.
